ne of the newest tools in my toolkit is rapid prototyping, and as any designer knows it is core to creating objectively good, tried and true work. Practiced primarily through my university courses, my first experiences with rapid prototyping began when I designed my own cactus skin-based wallets in my childhood home basement workshop in 2021. At Carnegie Mellon, we have worked with tooling board and XPS foam, clay, acrylic, wood, and some metals and rubbers; We now have access to woodworking, metalworking, sewing, 3D printing, laser cutting, and some lighter-end milling tools, opening many new doors for me to continue exploring.
